New arrangements and other randomness

Last night was the first night that Charley slept in his bed. It was also the first night for Izyk to sleep in the crib. To tell you the truth, I think we ALL slept better. Charley still slept until 9am and Izyk "slept" through the night...ish. (He slept from 10:30pm to 6:00am which is going to work out really well when I start work next week.)

Speaking of work...I start back to work on Monday. I'm not ready. I guess I'm never ready. :( Oh well. Pumping this time around is definitely a lot easier and I think I'm less stressed about the whole thing. Plus, whenever I return to work after time off, I feel like I'm starting a new job. Haha! I haven't been there in 2 months and I'm going to have to learn everything all over again!

Housework...totally have fallen behind and I won't ever catch up <- story of my life. Trying to let it go.

Dinners lately have been decided at the last minute and involves running to the store in the evening to buy supplies for that particular dinner. We haven't done a full grocery shopping in awhile...another "Oh well"...

I have two loads of laundry sitting on the couch...unfolded. It bothers me.

Ryan is napping and so is Charley. Izyk will be going down in a half hour. I'm starving but have no motivation to find food.

Excited to get my soap from Goat Milk Stuff which should be arriving in the next couple of days. Their soap is amazing and smells AWESOME. I tried the bath bombs the other night. LOVE THEM.

I have my skin biopsy next friday for the spot on my forehead. Ugh.

Ryan's 30th birthday is this friday and failing as wife, I have NO plans currently for this "milestone" event (I'm sure he's appreciative of that).

Another fail...I don't have pictures for this post because my camera died.

The visit...

where we had (at one point) 9 more people in our house. :) It was also mid-90's and humid so the greater part of the visit was spent indoors. Although, with the slip 'n slide and the mini-wading pool, they still had fun outdoors. It was a joy having everyone and we had great fun. We really do miss everyone and the two family times we had this past month and a half made us realize how much we missed everyone. Izyk spent most (98%) of his time asleep and Charley spent most of his time playing with the cousins. That's all I'm going to say and the rest is in the pictures.

Unloading all the legos into his shirt!

Jarod and Izyk...

Charley hitching a ride on Brennan down the slip n' slide!

Aunt Brandi and Charley playing in the pool...

Riding cousin Brennan again!

It's a race to the end... who won???

All the grandkids minus Dakota. :-(

Jodi and Izyk...

Playing games and trying not to smile...

Jodi...

Putting more stuff down the shirt...

Jonny holding Izyk..

Izyk passed out...in his cute dinosaur outfit.

The Big Boy Bed

So we had been shopping around for a bed to get Charley since he is a big boy now and.... we needed the crib for Izyk. We settled on a cubby bed we found online, however, it was about $300 and more than what we had planned on spending. After Shauna did some spying on her usual blog viewing of people she has never met or even know, on one of the blogs they had built their own headboard for their kids bed. It turns out they found the instructions on a website which they so kindly posted the link for others to go and view the possibilities of beds to build yourself. After searching Shauna found the same bed we wanted and if we built it, would cost half as much. So she printed out the instructions and I was to build my first bed. (insert excitement here)

I finally decided to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get the supplies needed to build the bed............ four hours later I came home with all the wood needed to build the bed. I say four hours because I had to go back and forth between the two. (Keep in mind this should have only been an hour if I had planned better) I first went to Lowe's and after an hour or so figured out the amount of wood to buy with as little scrap as possible. I then proceeded to look through all the wood to find good pieces to use... unfortunately they had one good piece and that was about it. I also found out after looking through all the wood available that the saw was broken and they wouldn't be able to cut anything for me. (I also have to get everything to fit in our Toyota Matrix) So went to Home Depot to see what they had and see if their saw was up and running. It was, so I then started looking for the wood... which there was one... (insert anger) So I had to reevaluate my options and at this time just wanted to get home. I just crabbed the best looking pieces and dealt with what I got.

So I got the wood finally and to make this longer story shorter, had some bad cuts on the wood, premature sanding, and a few other hiccups, but got it all together.

Now I had offers to help with the building of the bed, but decided since both Grandpa's would be visiting I would have each one help out in the building. The reason I wanted this was so there was a bit of history or story with the bed. The bed ended up being built in three sections which worked out perfectly. The staining and clear coat was left for Papa Nichols since he was the last to visit. Everything turned out pretty well considering. Here are the pics with Charley mans AWESOME bedding.

Adjusting

Izyk = 3 weeks, Charley = 18 months (almost 19 months)...I've been spoiled the last 3 weeks with always having someone here and keeping Charley busy. Come Saturday, I'll be on my own for a whole 5 hours. HA. It's only 2 children, although being outnumbered is still slightly intimidating. My main concern is when I'm nursing Izyk. Charley is into everything and we can't get him to sit through a movie. He'll watch Veggie Tales for 5 minutes before he's off finding something else to do. I've resolved myself to 1) locking ourselves in Charley's room or 2) gating ourselves in the living room with his toys.

ANYWAYS, we have/had 4 days to ourselves before the next round of family comes out to visit. We are very excited to see more family. Charley will get to see more people he is related to!

Izyk is doing a lot of sleeping still and he is a very good eater. He is getting big fast. He is out of newborn clothes already.

*sigh*

He loves being warm and being outside. He has a little bit of reflux but it doesn't bother him. He has a problem with gas and it usually shows itself at night before bedtime. We're hoping he grows out of that really soon but have found gripe water to be a bit helpful in that. He smiles a lot in his sleep along with twitching and snoring. He makes a whole lot of noise when he is awake, asleep, and nursing. Lots of grunting and sighs. It's actually kind of entertaining.

Charley is interested in him when he's around (always wants to give him kisses) but indifferent besides that. Charley does not like it when Izyk is crying. When Izyk cries, so does Charley. Haha! And I have never seen so many diapers in all my life. For the most part we are back in cloth diapers for Charley but my goodness...for those couple of weeks...whoa.

Ryan is building Charley's "big boy" bed. Both grandpas have helped/are helping build it. In 2 weeks or so, Charley will be in a bed and Izyk will be in his crib. Here's hoping for a smooth transition. I'll have pictures when the bed is complete. :)

My parents and my sister left on Tuesday. Sad day. All the pictures from that visit are with my mom. As soon as I get those pictures, I'll get those posted. But for now, here are some pictures from the past couple of days.
